Holy Mass July 31,

Holy
mass for the students of Std.VI to Std-XII was held in the chapel. Rev.
Fr. Ignatious Chalissery CMI celebrated Holy
Eucharist. In his message, he
stressed on three points:
a) Great men make
others feel great and small people make others geel small.
b) Christianity blooms
in the second mile.
c) The life of
St.Ignatious Royola.

Talents Fest 2008-2009
July 24 to 26, 2008
Talents Fest
2008-2009 was inaugurated by Mr. Deepak Gopinath & Freigo Francis, two
promising youngsters have created a niche in the world of music. Mr. Deepak,
in his inspiring talk, encouraged the students to pursue both academics and
their passion in the same frequency. He also told the students that they
should work whole-heartedly in all the endeavours they undertake. They
enthralled the gathering with their mind blowing performance on Drums and
Keyboard. After the inaugural ceremony, the students dispersed to their
respective venues for the various on stage competitions.
The valedictory function towards the close of the final day was a much
awaited function because the final winners were to be declared then. Fr
Paulson Paliakkara CMI, Vicar Provincial, the guest of the day honoured the
Kalaprathibhas and Kalathilakams of various categories and the winning houses.
Gandhi House walked away with the champions trophy while Nehru house bagged
the trophy for the runners-up. The following are the Kalaprathibha & Kalathilakams,

As part
of the Pinning Education, the first members of CMI congregation from outside
India, three Kenyans, Br. Peter, Br. Julius
and Br. Christopher visited our school. In their address to the students in
the auditorium, they shared their experiences in different parts of India. They told the students
about the geographical and climatic conditions of Kenya, the educational system and
the culture of their country. They advised the students to spread the news of
God to all they come across, because there are still people who are unaware of
the good news.

As part of Pinning
Education Programme two representatives from Virgo Fidelis Convent
Senior School, London, are in Devamatha CMI Public School. Ms. Clare James and
Ms. Siobhan Campbell were outstanding students of
Virgo Fidelis
Convent
Senior
School and are now students of
Cambridge University
and Royal
Holloway
University,
London respectively. They will be spending 3
weeks in our school and visiting various classes and spending time with our
students. The Devamatha family extends a whole hearted welcome to both of them
and prays for fruitful days ahead .
Pass Certificate
The pass certificate of the students of Std.XII
(2007-2008 batch) are ready in school and the passed out students can collect
it from the office on working days between 9.00 am and 4.00 pm.
Orientation Programme, June 28, Saturday
The Orientation Programme for the parents of Std.VI - Std. IX was
held in the auditorium. Adv. Seby Pullely, the resource person of the day,
oriented the parents about effective ways of handling children.
Investiture Ceremony, June 27, Friday
The newly elected members were inducted into the school cabinet in
a ceremonial function which was presided over by Mr. Thomas K Joseph, the
Principal of Bharatiya Vidhya Bhavan, Poochatty. The solemn function witnessed
the handing over of charges to the new members. Mr. Thomas Joseph advised the
students to gather knowledge from as many sources as possible and to learn
from their mistakes. Rev. Fr. Paul Alengattukaran blessed the new members of
the Cabinet. The Principal was all praise for the Cabinet members for
discharging their duties remarkably.
DCL Thrissur Region Inauguration, June 26,
Thursday
The inauguration of the DCL Thrissur Region was held in the school auditorium.
District Collector of Thrissur, Mr. V.K.Baby, the chief guest of the day
stressed on the importance of faith in God and love for humanity. According to
him, reading is a cohesive, synergy which will trigger as a catalyst and work
in the minds of children. He exhorted the teachers to instill love, confidence
and creativity in the students instead of confined, conditional thoughts. Rev.
Fr. Roy Kannanchira CMI, lovingly known as Kochettan, welcomed the
representatives from different schools and the prize winners of various
competitions Fr. Roy motivated the DCL members to spread their wings and fly
high. DCL leader Kumari Chinnu Paul presided over the function. The provincial
Rev. Fr. George Pius Ukken, Rev.Fr. Shaju Edamana, Mr. James Padamadan, Rev.
Sr. Anupama, Rev. Sr. Lissette the DCL organizers, representatives and
animators from various school were present on the occasion.
Anti - Narcotics Day
The staff and students of
Devamatha CMI
Public School
commemorated Anti-Narcotics Day. Dr. Raju Antony, Dept. of Community Medicine,
Amala Institute of Medical Sciences, Thrissur gave a talk on the causes,
effect, prevention and treatment of Narcotics. In the interactive session that
followed the students actively participated.
Mr. Joseph Antony, PRO, AIMS was also present on the occasion.

Meet the candidate (June 19, Thursday)
As part of the election campaign, the
candidates met the students at different venues. The candidates introduced
themselves and put forward their manifestoes. The students also responded

Enriched with the experiences from the West, our teachers and students

after their two weeks stay. In the official gathering in the auditorium, they

Salad Fest- Eat Healthy, Eat natural, Eat fresh...June
10, Tuesday
Incorporating practical experience with book knowledge, the students of Std VI
participated in a salad making competition. They made a variety of colourful,
innovative salads using sprouted grams, onions , tomatoes etc.
Inauguration of Commerce Stream, June 9,Monday
The first batch of Commerce stream was inaugurated by Rev. Fr. George Pius
Ukken CMI, the Provincial of Devamatha Province. The Principal, Senior
Secondary Co-ordinator, teachers and all the students of Senior
secondary were present on the occasion.
Vidhyarambam June 9, Monday
Any venture to be successful has to make a good start and this year too the
school did it in a grand manner with the Vidhyarambam. The senior students of
Std XII organized it with great importance. The Principal, Rev. Fr. Shaju
Edamana CMI, welcomed the gathering of parents and newly admitted
students. This was followed by lighting of lamp by the dignitaries and student
representatives. Rev.Fr. George Pius Ukken CMI, the Provincial who presided
over the function exhorted the students to " smile at as many people as
possible on each day." Prof. P.A Jose, the Senior Secondary Co-ordinator gave
them instructions to be followed in

teaching faculty was also introduced.
Vidhyarambam June 2, Monday
After a long summer vacation, the students of Std I - Std IX are back in
school. After the initial excitement of re-union, the students and staff
assembled in the auditorium to welcome the new members of the Devamatha
family. The Principal greeted each new member (staff and students ).Prof. P.A.
Jose greeted the gathering with warm words of welcome and fatherly advice. The
programme was followed by Holy Mass during which special prayer for
Vidhyarambam was conducted.

Wednesday
The first batch of 143 senior secondary students came out in flying colours
with 95 distinctions, 44 first classes and 3 second classes. Hats off to the
students & teachers.
Adieu
The former Director Rev. Fr. Paul Achandy CMI who has accorded the office of
the Director of Amala Medical College and associated institution was awarded a
send off by the students and staff of the school. Rev. Fr. Stephen Menachery
CMI, the former finance Officer assumed his office as Prior Christ College
Monastery, Irinjalakkuda. Both the fathers were accompanied by the staff to
their new offices.
May 19th, Monday
The enthusiastic group of V-VII grades joined the already vibrant seniors. A
number of exciting programmes like grammar classes, public speaking, word
games, problem solving, games etc. added to the excitement
May 12th Monday
The school corridors vibrated with the sounds of greeting and laughter as the
students of Std.IX and Std. VIII walked into the school campus. An array of
captivating programmes were organized by the teachers.
Effective Study Workshop - May 9th
Firday
Fr. George Athappilly CMI conducted a class for the students of Std. XII and
Std. X and guided them on how to go about effectively in their academics.
Training Session for Teachers
With a view to improving the overall quality of the teaching community, a
number of training programmes by eminent personalities were conducted during
the month of May.
A Week long workshop in English for the teachers was conducted by Rev. Dr.
Jose Pellissery CMI.
Classes for Std. X & XII - May 5th, Monday
The academic session for the students of XII and X was started with a warm
welcome by the Principal. Classes began with great fervour.
A New Dawn - May 3rd Saturday
The Devamatha family gathered in the school with much excitement and
anticipation, at the beginning of the new academic session. The Official
meeting was inaugurated with the lighting of the lamp. Rev. Fr. Shaju Edamana
CMI welcomed the gathering by introducing the new council members headed by
Rev. Fr. George Pius Ukken CMI who has assumed office as the new Manager and
Provincial, Devamatha
CMI
Province. Rev. Fr. Jacob Njerinjampilly CMI has
taken charge of the Education Dept. of the Province and Rev. Fr. Paul
Alengadan CMI is in charge of the Finance Office. Rev. Fr. Jerome Cherussery
CMI, former Manager and Rev. Fr. Joseph Stephen Menachery CMI, former finance
Manager also spoke on the occasion. The new members of the staff introduced
themselves and were inducted into the family. The meeting concluded with tea
and snacks.
